Biography

Astrid Wagner is a Tenured Research Scientist at the Institute of Philosophy of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid and a member of the Berlin Center for Knowledge Research. She holds a PhD in Philosophy from the Technische Universität Berlin (TUB), a degree approved by the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED). Her professional career includes positions, such as: scientific coordinator in a center for international science cooperation (1995-2000), assistant professor and academic staff member at the department of philosophy and theory of science of the TUB (2000-2009 and 2012-2017), postdoctoral research fellow at the CSIC, fellowship funded by the JAE Doctores program (2009-2012). She participated in various research projects in Germany, Spain and Italy and was in charge of the project Knowledge and Rationality at the Berlin Center for Knowledge Research. Currently, she belongs to the research groups Cognitive Vulnerability, Verosimilitude and Truth (FFI2017-84826-P) and The Dusty Attic of Reason: the Cultivation of Passions, Moral Identities, and Digital Societies (FFI2017-82535-P). She has extensive experience in both teaching and research. Her main research areas are: modern and contemporary philosophy (both analytical and continental), particularly the philosophy of language and culture, transcendental philosophy, phenomenology and pragmatism, the philosophy of perception and the aesthetics. Her publications focus on the problem of how to understand the correlation of rationality and normativity, of epistemological and normative issues, taking into account conceptual, epistemic and cultural relativity.
